Agriculture & Landscape Nonwoven Fabric

PP spunbond nonwoven for crop cover, frost protection, weed control, and ground cover — UV-stabilized, breathable, and made to your weight, width, and color.

Agriculture and landscape fabric is UV-stabilized PP spunbond nonwoven used two ways in growing and landscaping: laid over plants as a crop cover, and laid on the soil as a ground cover. As a crop cover it is a light, breathable fleece that protects plants from frost, wind, hail, sun, and pests while letting air, water, and light through, and it raises ground temperature to extend the growing season. As a ground cover it is a heavier weed-control fabric that blocks light to stop weeds without herbicides while still letting water drain into the soil. We make both, UV-treated for a long service life, in white for crop cover and black for weed control, or any color you need, on the roll to your weight and width.

Because we run the spunbond fabric in-house, we set the weight, UV level, and treatment to the crop and climate, so the fabric performs and lasts in the field. Light frost fleece to heavy weed mat, breathable, with hydrophilic or hydrophobic treatment on request, supplied in jumbo rolls or cut to size.

Crop Cover and Frost Protection

Laid over the crop, a light nonwoven fleece shields plants from frost, cold snaps, wind, hail, and burning sun, while letting air, water, and light through so the plants keep growing. It captures heat by day and holds ground warmth at night, which raises soil temperature and extends the season at both ends. Growers use it as a floating row cover or over hoops as a mini-tunnel, and it reuses season after season.

Weed Control and Ground Cover

Laid on the soil, a heavier nonwoven ground cover blocks light so weeds cannot grow, which cuts herbicide use in nurseries, orchards, greenhouses, and landscaping. It stays permeable, so rain and irrigation drain straight through to the roots, and the UV stabilizer gives it a long service life outdoors. Black fabric blocks the most light; we also run dual-shade and custom colors.

Pest, Sun, and Moisture Management

Beyond frost and weeds, the fabric works as a physical barrier against aphids, beetles, and birds, and as a shade cloth that lowers surface temperature and prevents sunburn on tender plants. A hydrophilic treatment helps the fabric hold and pass water for seedlings, while a hydrophobic treatment sheds rain off a crop cover. We set the treatment to the crop and the season.

Company factory how we work

FAQs

What is agriculture and landscape nonwoven fabric used for?

It is used across growing and landscaping. Over plants it works as a crop cover for frost, pest, wind, and sun protection and to extend the season; on the soil it works as a weed-control ground cover and mulch that suppresses weeds without herbicides. It is also made into fruit and plant protection bags. Growers, nurseries, orchards, greenhouses, and landscapers use it in the field.

What is the difference between crop cover and weed-control fabric?

Crop cover is a light, breathable fleece laid over the plants to protect them from frost, pests, and sun while letting light and water through. Weed-control fabric is a heavier ground cover laid on the soil to block light and stop weeds while staying permeable so water drains to the roots. Same base material, different weight and use, and we make both.

Does the fabric let water and air through?

Yes. The fabric is breathable and permeable, so air, water, and light pass through. That is what lets a crop cover protect plants without suffocating them, and what lets a ground cover drain rain and irrigation straight to the soil while still blocking weeds.

How long does it last outdoors?

It depends on the UV treatment and the exposure. We UV-stabilize the fabric so it holds up to sun over multiple seasons outdoors, and we set the UV level to your climate and how long the fabric needs to last. Tell us the use and region and we will spec it.

What weights, colors, and widths do you supply?

We make it to your weight, color, and width rather than to one grade: light fleece for crop cover through to heavy mat for weed control, in white, black, or custom colors, and on jumbo rolls or cut to size. Tell us the crop or application and we will recommend the weight and color.

Can you treat it for UV, water, or specific crops?

Yes. We UV-stabilize the fabric for outdoor life, and we can add a hydrophilic treatment to help hold and pass water for seedlings, or a hydrophobic treatment to shed rain off a crop cover. We set the treatment to the crop and the season.

Choosing Agriculture and Landscape Nonwoven Fabric

What the fabric is

Agriculture and landscape fabric is UV-stabilized PP spunbond nonwoven, a light, breathable, permeable fabric used in growing and landscaping. It is laid over plants as a crop cover or on the soil as a ground cover. Because it lets air, water, and light through while acting as a physical barrier, it protects crops and suppresses weeds without sealing the plant or soil off. Weights run from around 17 GSM for the lightest crop covers up to heavier grades for weed control and severe frost.

Crop cover vs ground cover

The two uses call for different weights and colors, so match the fabric to the job:

UseFabricBest For
Crop cover (over plants)Light white fleeceFrost, pests, wind, sun; season extension
Weed control (on soil)Heavier black ground coverWeed suppression, nurseries, orchards
Mulch (on soil)Medium ground coverMoisture and temperature around plantings
Fruit protectionLight sleeves and bagsShielding fruit from insects and birds

Choosing weight and UV level

Weight sets how much protection the fabric gives, and the UV level sets how long it lasts in the sun. Light fabric suits pest protection and mild frost; medium suits frost and moderate weather; heavier suits severe frost, hail, wind, and long-life weed control. Higher UV treatment extends service life in strong-sun regions.

WeightBest For
Light (frost fleece)Pest protection and light frost
MediumFrost and moderate weather, mulch
HeavySevere frost, hail, wind, long-life weed control

What to confirm when sourcing

  • The use: crop cover over plants, or ground cover on soil.
  • The weight, set to the protection or weed-blocking you need.
  • The color: white for crop cover, black for weed control, or custom.
  • The UV level, set to your climate and how long the fabric must last.
  • Any hydrophilic or hydrophobic treatment for the crop.
  • Roll width and quantity, jumbo or cut, for your operation.

We make the spunbond fabric in-house, so we can set the weight, UV level, color, and treatment to the crop and climate and hold it consistent across a bulk roll order. For growers, nurseries, and landscape suppliers who reorder the same fabric each season, that consistency is what keeps the supply dependable.
